Happy Father’s Day Poems 2019
What Makes a Dad
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle’s flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need.
My Dad’s Hands
Bedtime came, we were settling down,
I was holding one of my lads.
As I grasped him so tight, I saw a strange sight:
My hands. .they looked like my dad’s!
I remember them well, those old gnarled hooks,
there was always a cracked nail or two.
And thanks to a hammer that strayed from its mark,
his thumb was a beautiful blue!
They were rough, I remember, incredibly tough,
as strong as a carpenter’s vice.
But holding a scared little boy at night,
they seemed to be awfully nice!
The sight of those hands – how impressive it was
in the eyes of his little boy.
Other dads’ hands were cleaner, it seemed
(the effects of their office employ).
I gave little thought in my formative years
of the reason for Dad’s
The love in the toil, the dirt and the oil,
rusty plumbing that gave those hands fits!
Thinking back, misty-eyed, and thinking ahead,
when one day my time is done.
The torch of love in my wrinkled hands
will pass on to the hands of my son.
I don’t mind the bruises, the scars here and there
or the hammer that just seemed to slip.
I want most of all when my son takes my hand,
to feel that love lies in the grip.
What actually is a poem? For school students, its like ‘Johny Johny, Yes! papa’ but it means the words which rhyme, the word at the end of the sentence shall rhyme with the next sentence’s last word, an example we can say, ‘fine’ which rhymes with ‘fine’, you can start writing some good poem for your parents and say them on father’s day or mother’s day and this would make them so much happy. And the collection of many sentences with the last word rhyming with the next line’s last word is the ‘poetry’ and the one who writes it called ‘poet’, you can also gift your father a pre-written poetry which is good and awesome, and there are many more good gift ideas available which you can use.
Fathers hold you when you have bad dreams
And they comfort you when all is lost it seems.
Fathers teach you to dribble a basketball and shoot a free throw
And they lead you as you grow.
Fathers teach you how to drive a car
And they try to teach you
Fathers wipe the tears of your broken heart
And they hold your hand when you don’t know how to start.
Fathers quiz the boys who take you on a date
And they scold those boys who bring you home late.
Fathers carry you on their shoulders when you’re too small to see
And they watch as you giggle when they bounce you on their knee.
Fathers extend their feet to you when they teach you how to dance
And they always give you a second chance.
Fathers wait in the wings while you start your own life
Fathers walk you down on your wedding day
But fathers never really give their little girls away.
You never said I’m leaving
You never said goodbye
You were gone before I knew it,
A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried
If Love alone could have saved you,
In Life, I loved you dearly I love you still
In my heart, you hold a place,
That could ever fill
It broke my heart to lose you,
But you didn’t go alone
